Artificial Intelligence

A general guide to artificial intelligence.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial intelligence (AI)  refers to a computer simulation of human intelligence, which gives computers the ability to think and learn, much like the way our brains work. It's a technology that allows machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as recognizing patterns, making decisions, and solving problems. AI uses data and algorithms to analyze information and make predictions or decisions.

Types of Artificial Intelligence:

  • Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) is a subset of AI that involves algorithms that are capable of creating new data.
  • Large Language Models (LLM) are a type of GAI that generate text by predicting the likelihood of a word based on the previous words. Chatbots and voice assistants are a common use of LLMs.
  • ChatGPT and GoogleBard are two examples of a type of LLMs known as Generative Pretrained Transformers (GPTs). GPTs are trained on large amounts of text and can generate contextual, coherent sentences.
