Welcome back, brave souls! Last time, we talked about the best scary reads for October—but now it’s time to turn off the lights, grab some popcorn, and press play. That’s right, Broome Library isn’t just full of spine-chilling books, we’ve got movies that will have you hiding behind your blanket (or at least jumping once or twice).
Did you know the library has two popular streaming services for movies and tv shows? If you’re in the mood for a classic scream-fest, check out Swank Digital Campus. You’ll find iconic favorites like Scream(1996), Little Shop of Horrors (1986), Rear Window (1954), and more. Whether you love a good jump scare, musical mayhem, or Hitchcock-style suspense, Swank has you covered for all things creepy, campy, and classic.

Prefer your horror with an indie or vintage twist? Head over to Kanopy, where you can stream cult favorites and eerie masterpieces like Night of the Living Dead (1968). Kanopy also has a full Horror & Thriller Collection you can browse through, perfect for discovering those hidden gems that will make you leave the lights on.

And if you’re feeling nostalgic, take a stroll through our DVD collection right here in the library! You might be surprised at what you find lurking on the shelves. From modern blockbusters to black-and-white classics, our physical collection is full of spooky (and not-so-spooky) surprises.
Don’t have a DVD player? No problem! You can borrow a portable DVD player right from the Circulation Desk. So, whether you’re watching in your dorm, at home, or out in the middle of nowhere with friends and a bag of candy corn, the Broome Library has you covered.

So, this October, dim the lights, grab your favorite snacks, and let Broome Library be your one-stop shop for Halloween entertainment. Whether you’re reading Frankenstein by flashlight or streaming Scream after dark, we’re here to keep your spooky season going strong.
Happy haunting, and happy watching!
