Who doesn’t love Halloween? It’s one of my favorite holidays, and what better way to celebrate than by curling up with a good book that gives you goosebumps? Whether you're into gothic classics, psychological thrillers, or modern horror with a twist, Broome Library has something to send shivers down your spine. This is the first post in a spooky two-part series—today we're focusing on scary books to enjoy all October long! Stay tuned for part two, where we dive into the chilling world of horror films.

You can’t talk about scary stories without mentioning Dracula. Don’t sleep on Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire tale, it’s a classic for a reason! But Broome Library has some books that you might not expect, including Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein as a GRAPHIC NOVEL! It’s perfect for readers who want to explore this classic in a whole new way.

Not interested in the classics? No problem! Come to the library and head over to our Popular Books section, where you'll find a curated collection of fresh new titles selected by librarians who are passionate about good reads. From psychological thrillers and supernatural suspense, there’s something for every level of fright.

Be prepared for creepy atmospheres, spine-tingly twists, and even some “spooky-but-not-too-scary picks.” I don’t know about you, but I’m not used to chilly nights, so curling up with a good book and some hot chocolate is the perfect way to combat the chill. But be careful not to spill your drink at the scary parts!
