Below find a list of the most relevant databases to use to locate information for health science research. Remember, that health science is an interdisciplinary area of study, so there are additional databases that you may find useful in other subjects. Depending on your topic you may find database suggestions on other Broome Library Research Guides useful. You will also find information on tutorials and demonstrations to aid in searching specific databases on this page.
Tip 1: Use AND to combine keywords and phrases when searching the databases for articles.
Example: youth AND depression AND treatment
In searching databases you will need to select key phrases, words, and concepts from your research question to get results.
Tip 2: Use quotation marks around search words to search phrases
Example: "heart attack" will provide results with the exact phrase heart attack.
Without quotation marks, you will get results that include the words separately. The database will search heart AND attack.
Tip 3: Use truncation (an asterisk) to search for different variations of words. This does not work in every database.
Example: child* and depression
child* will search child, children, childhood, and other words that start with "child",
