What is peer review and why should you care?
Peer-Review (also called refereed or juried) is a process where authors send submitted articles to one or more experts for review before they are published. The reviewers help decide if the article should be published and offer suggestions for updates to the article prior to publication. This review process helps ensure improved quality in the articles published and reflects solid scholarship in a field.
How do you know if the article you would like to use is peer-reviewed? There are a few options, when searching for articles in the databases, look in the advanced search options for a box that allows you to limit your search to only peer-reviewed journals. Remember all content in a journal is not peer reviewed such as book reviews and editorial pieces.
