National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month: History and Resources

Celebrating National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! In 1987, President Reagan issued Proclamation 5613 which designated March as National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. This month aims to raise awareness of the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities and the barriers they may face. It also recognizes the many ways people with developmental disabilities contribute to diverse communities.

In this guide, you'll find resources from CSU Channel Islands' own John Spoor Broome Library as well as from around the web.
