Dates & Availability

We will work with you to try and accommodate your preferred visit dates and times. However, we are not available for library visits during the first two months of the Fall semester and the first month of the Spring semester.

Library Visit Options

Broome Library loves working with High School teachers and librarians to arrange high school visits to our library. Below are the types of visits that we offer. If you have questions, email library.engagement@csuci.edu.

Library Tour

  • Expected Time: 45 minutes
  • What to Expect: The library tour consists of a librarian providing a physical tour of the library space, interacting with student library assistants (when possible), librarians, and tutors from our Writing & Multiliteracy Center and Learning Resource Center partners. Throughout the tour, our librarian will introduce library resources and we help students.
  • Add-on Option: The library tour can be offered alone or added on to another visit below. If adding-on, adjust your time allotted for your larger visit and a break in between the tour and additional visit option.

Introduction to Library Resources & Research Consults

  • Expected Time: 90 minutes
  • What to Expect: This visit option includes an introduction to our library's resources for CSUCI and high school students, searching the library catalog and databases tutorial, and research consultations with students. This is a great option if students have a specific assignment they are working on. At the end of the tutorials, students can their research, while our librarian(s) help students navigate our library's databases. A sample of possible topics should be provided ahead of your visit.
