Can I Look at the Books when Visiting the Library?
Yes, Broome Library is open to the public and when visiting in person you can use any of the books or materials located in the front library shelves. Remote access to non-CSUCI faculty, students, and staff is not available.
Can I Access Library Databases and eBooks when Visiting the Library ?
Yes, when visiting the library in person you can access our eBooks and library databases when logged into our public computers. However, we cannot grant remote access to our electronic resources.
Can I Check out a Book or DVD?
Yes, with a Broome Library Community Card. Non CSUCI students, faculty, and staff can check out general books and DVDs with the purchase of a Broome Library community card for $40 per year. This card only allows you to check out books and DVDs, it does not grant remote access to our electronic databases and journals.
Visitors who are current CI Alumni & Friends members are eligible to receive a Broome Library community card at no cost, for more information, contact the CI Alumni & Friends Association.
Can I use the Computers?
Yes, visitors may use any open computer in the John Spoor Broome Library. Please check in at the reference desk (the large circular desk in the center of the first floor) to get guest-login information. See the library's Visitor Computer Privileges page for more information.
Can I use the Printers?
Yes, visitors may copy and print in the library by purchasing a Guest printing card at a cost of $1.50 and add additional funds to cover printing costs. Black and white prints cost .05 per side and color prints cost .30 per side. A card dispenser and printers are located on the first floor of the library in room 1350 or in Sage Hall. What Can't I Use in the Library?
- Reserve group study rooms.
- Check out equipment (laptops, cameras, etc).
- Access course reserve textbooks.
- Access electronic resources remotely.
