Broome Library Instruction Program

Information Literacy

What is Information Literacy?

Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to “recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information.” (American Library Association, "Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education").

Broome Library's Information Literacy Program

Broome Library understands the critical role that information literacy plays in shaping well-rounded and successful students. As such, we are dedicated to empowering faculty with valuable resources and support for information literacy instruction.

This guide will introduce you to the library's IL Program and the many instruction and reference services the library has to offer CSUCI.
